Developers of PUBG: Black Budget have released a teaser announcing an upcoming open alpha test for the new title. The testing will be held in two stages: from December 12 to 14 and from December 19 to 21.
Anyone interested will be able to apply for access; players need to request access through the game's Steam page. The developers have not disclosed how many participants will be admitted to the alpha. During the test period, the available gameplay will be limited to first-person mode only.
According to the official description, players will be tasked with surviving on an island that does not appear on standard maps. That island is trapped in a time loop and is slowly being torn apart by a mysterious phenomenon referred to as the Anomaly.
PUBG: Black Budget is positioned as a kind of analogue to games such as Escape from Tarkov and ARC Raiders within the broader PUBG portfolio. The studio behind the project describes it as featuring raid-style missions, with individual raids lasting up to 30 minutes.
The developers also promise dynamic PvPvE encounters that will pit players against both each other and environmental or nonplayer threats, along with a persistent inventory system that preserves progress between sessions. These elements are being presented as core features intended to distinguish Black Budget from more conventional battle royale modes.
The announcement frames Black Budget as an experimental expansion of PUBG Corporation's offerings, combining tense extraction-style gameplay with the franchise's established survival mechanics. The open alpha is intended to gather player feedback and stress-test core systems ahead of further development and wider release plans.
